Economic and social impacts of hanization in Xinjiang

The goal of this work is to identify the economic and social areas most affected by migration of majority Han ethnic group in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and to find out how are they influenced by the migration. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first is focused on Xinjiang in general and demonstrates the importance of this autonomous region of the People's Republic of China. The second chapter aims at the development and reasons for Han migration to Xinjiang, with an emphasis on migration after 1949. The last chapter examines the implications of this migration in three categories - social, economic and socio-economic. The main topics are religion, social unrests, education, urbanisation, the impact on GDP, income inequality and labour market.
Wang Meng and his Writings Inspired by Xinjiang

Wang Meng, an important figure of modern Chinese literature, is best known as an author experimenting with literary techniques at the turn of the 70s and the 80s. Our paper examines a relatively little-known part of his work inspired by the writer's many-year stay in Xinjiang. Examined proses originate primarily from two collections - In Yili and Hello, Xinjiang. In the analysis of Wang Meng's literary creation we take into account the historical context and we present particular features of the literary image of non-Han culture in the work of a Han writer. We also examine the use of narrative techniques, with particular focus on "stream of consciousness" technique.
The International Scope of East Turkestan Islamic Movement Terrorist Activities

As a consequence of an increasing number of terrorist attacks worldwide, terrorism has become one of the most discussed security threats. Given the globalisation of today´s world, terrorism remains an ever-present threat for all nations, including the emerging power represented by the People´s Republic of China. The evolution of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement established in the Chinese north-western province of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region therefore represents the main topic of this Bachelor thesis. The primary aim of the thesis is to analyse the development and behaviour of the movement in terms of its goals, operating territory and ties to global terrorist organisations. The secondary aim is to contribute to a broader discussion and awareness on this topic in the Czech Republic.
Special economic zones in China - Shenzhen and the newly established zones in central and western China

Special economic zones are one of the tools utilized by Chinese government to stimulate the growth of local economy, especially through foreign investment. This thesis is focused on special economic zone in Shenzhen and on use of special economic zones for development of inland provinces of China in recent years, which are lagging in economic development in comparison with the developed provinces on the eastern coast. Western development plan is demonstrated on the example of the province of Xinjiang. The thesis further sumarizes bow is the approach to establishment of special economic zones changing in recent years, compared to the period of early 1980s.
Risks of entrepreneurship in PRC

PRC is no longer seen only as a "world factory". It gains on importace as an global trading partner and many foreign companies try to succeed in Chinese market as importers of their products. Also Czech businesses have already penetrated Chinese market, invested there or are seriously considering expansion to the market. Main objectives of the thesis are to review and characterize main risks, obstacles and barriers which Czech entrepreneurs have to deal with when entering the Chinese market and suggestions how to obviate them.

U.S.-P.R.C. Relations after 11th September, 2001 and the War on Terror

In the first chapter the author deals with 11th September, 2001 itself and its consequences (primarily) on American foreign policy. The second chapter analyses factors that influenced the decision-making of the Chinese leadership concerning the cooperation with the United States. The third chapter uses examples to show the extent of the assistance rendered by China to the United States and in some instances deals with the American attitude thereto.
